Patterned Imprinted Concrete
Patterned imprinted concrete is a new skill technique. This method uses colours and patterns to decorate concrete driveways, patios, and paths. This allows you to recreate the appearance of genuine materials like stone, slate, timber. This process eliminates the high price of natural products.
Minimal Maintenance
Patterned concrete is a unique product that needs minimal maintenance. It performs well over other products like flagstones or tarmac. Many problems can be eliminated by using a dolomite subbase and four inches fibre reinforced concrete. These issues include sinking and weeds as well as moss. Alternative products are available. The problems that can be encountered with wooden decked patios include block paving and wood rot.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?
To simplify, patterned concrete (also called stamped concrete) is made by pouring concrete on top of a subbase. Then a colour is added and a hardener is added. This is a new way to make concrete, unlike traditional concreting which used blocks to make your finish.
The pattern is applied once the concrete has cooled. You can choose from many different prints, such as brickwork or textured stone. Patterned concrete is an attractive choice for domestic properties, particularly when it comes to lining driveways.
Good quality print
The quality and durability of the concrete printed is crucial. Laying fresh concrete requires extreme care, dedication, and patience. Less consistency in concrete form can result in a poorly constructed concrete floor.
A contractor might use 6-8 rigid matsa and 1 flexible mat to print a set. The driveway’s narrowest section will require six mats. However, the flexible mats can be used to print and access areas that the rigid mats won’t.
Although most printing mats measure 600x600mm in size, it is possible to order matts up to 600x600mm.
Colour Consistency
You should consider colour consistency when installing imprinted concrete. This will ensure that your flooring has the desired colour. The main components in patterned concrete include antique release agents and colour surface toughener.
The final result will be poor if the colour top coater is not applied correctly or it isn’t sufficient. This is especially noticeable for large commercial jobs, like retail shop flooring.
It may take several concrete deliveries for big commercial jobs. This could result in slight colour variations in each concrete mix. The purpose of the surface hardener is to match the colours together after they have been applied. This is an ideal option for large jobs that require more time than a few days.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
To ensure that the concrete floor is durable, the sub-stone foundation must be mixed with the ground below it. This could be soil or stone.
Concrete mix also plays an important part in maintaining structural integrity for many years.
This is especially true in high-traffic areas like driveways, multi-storey parking lots, and warehouses where machinery is used daily.
Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking
Patterned concrete driveways should contain 300kgs or more cement per cubic meter.
Colder conditions will require you to consume 350-380 kgs.
An air entertaining agent can be added to the floor to increase its durability and resistance against cracking due to heavy traffic or weather.
Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results
You can enhance the overall appearance of patterned cement by applying an acrylic sealant that is solvent-based (only once dry). Water-based acrylics pose a greater problem for patterned concrete so they should be avoided.
To maintain the appearance of your concrete patterned, it is worth applying sealant at least every four years.
Although this is not a requirement, it will preserve your driveway (or other patterned concrete) for many more years.
